David's end peg

It has only been a week since the first round and after my section 2nd last week I was sitting 8th overall in the league. Round 2 was again on the Rosslea Lakes and after an early draw I found myself on Drumacritten Peg 4.

My peg was very deep, around 18ft at 12m so I decided to keep things simple today. Two top 4’s and a slider rod.

VDE Secret formed the base of my usual mix and I decided to cup in only 3 balls at the start. I started to catch straight away and had caught more than anyone else after the first half hour. I had managed a Bonus Roach around 12oz and the average Roach was around 2oz.

It was on and off for the rest of the day with Paul Eyres to my left loosfeeding caster and catching 2-4oz Roach regualry. Lee Symonds on end Peg 6 was catching netter Roach slow but steady for most of the day. I managed another bonus Roach approaching the 1lb mark but no more followed.

I cupped in 3 balls after 3 hours in an attempt to gets bites back but only the small 1oz Roach appeared. I was feeding it wrong from what i’d watched from some of the more local angler in my section. I never got any indications on the slider at 32 turns either.

Paul won the section with 5Kilo odd, Lee Symonds on peg 6 was 2nd with 4Kilo and I was 3rd with 3Kilo 500g. Robert Buick weighed in 3Kilo while John Pollock weighed in under 2Kilo. Gavin Brown packed up with half an hour to go and tipped back around 2Kg of fish.

Another 4pts see’s me still 8th overall in the League so I’ll be aiming for a section win at Round 3 to keep me up there.
