I fished for 2 hours 10 minutes before I got my first bite and then put 3-4Kg of Roach in the net with my 3rd hours fishing before I packed up at 12noon. Biggest Roach around 1lb, maybe just over. Rest averaged 4-6oz.

A quick look back at 2011...
2011 has been good to me in several respects but also on the Match Fishing front. I put a bit of effort into my match fishing and fished matches most weekends throughout the year.
I fished my first ‘Big’ Festival early on in the year which was the IADA Spring Festival on Lough Muckno. It didn’t go quite to plan for me but it was an eye opener to see what way these festivals run...

Round 6 was again back on the Rosslea Lakes. 1-2 degrees was showing up on the way down the road this morning and the back roads to the Rosslea Lakes were very dangerous with ice. Lyon’s lake was frozen over with about 10mm of ice.

Following the completion of the six NCFFI Float Team Qualifiers and the announcement of the CIPS Float venues for 2012, Ireland Team manager Mark Theedom has selected his teams for the 2012 Float Fishing Internationals.

Sun 6th Nov 2011 - Float Only ROUND 3, Roslea...
The Irish Team Qualifiers have finished up for the year and after a good result for me it’s now time to concentrate on the Float Only Winter league.
Round 3 took place on the Roslea lakes again. The water levels were back down to normal after all the rain before Round 2 but the frost had arrived for Round 3. -2 degrees down the road this morning.

A 2 hour drive home yesterday and back again this morning saw me back at the Boyle Canal. I was slightly confident this morning after yesterdays result so I was looking forward to the fishing again.

It has only been a week since the first round and after my section 2nd last week I was sitting 8th overall in the league. Round 2 was again on the Rosslea Lakes and after an early draw I found myself on Drumacritten Peg 4.
My peg was very deep, around 18ft at 12m so I decided to keep things simple today. Two top 4’s and a slider rod.

After 15 rounds the top 10 anglers in the league qualified for the 1 day final. No surprises when the venue announced was Loughgall. Irish Team Qualifier - NEWRY CANAL
Not very much preperation went into this qualifier simply because i’ve been out fishing all over the place for the past few weekends leading up to this. I haven’t visited Newry Canal in some time, in fact the last time I can remember fishing it was one of the Drennan Super League matches when I fished for Lurgan VDE which was nearly 8 years ago maybe more.

Inter-Provincials 2011
This year it was Munsters time to host the Inter Provincials so Inniscarra near Cork was the venue chosen.
The journey took just over 4.5hrs from Enniskillen to Coachford where the draw was to take place. 3 of us travelled down together - myself, Jack and Gavin (Driver). There was no Connaught Team this year so there was only Ulster, Leinster and home province ‘Munster’ to battle it...
Interprovincials - DAY 2
Day 1 went relatively well for ULSTER managing 2nd overall on the day and only 1 point behing home province MUNSTER. It also ended with a nice Chinese in Macroom and an early night fro a few of us.
